Music is an art.

It is subjective and emotional. None of those qualities will be found in an algorithm.

GETTING STARTED

audio mixing board

Mixing

Mixing is the art of treating the different elements (stems) of a song individually to get the greater result of each part, and then joining all the parts in a coherent balance.

Mixing is the step that glues the parts of a song together to make them become a completely balanced, single stereo wave.

Mastering

Mastering is the preparation of a stereo mix for its distribution on various platforms with consistency of sound in mind. It is the final step on which a song gains consistency, body, presence and definition.

Mastering is when a well mixed track becomes a coherent finished piece.

So your song is finished but...

...You need Mixing & Mastering

Bounce your stems separately and make sure to always keep kick and bass/sub separate.

Keep any reverb sends/returns on separate stems.

Gather the rest of the sounds by family (drums, percussion, hats, synths, vocals, etc.).

Having trouble mixing by family? Bounce each stem individually and we will take care of the rest.

You also need to bounce the premaster so that our engineer can get an idea of your artistic view.

...You need Mastering

Bounce the premaster of your track with at least -3db of headroom.

How to Bounce

Bounce in WAV/AIFF format using 24BIT/44.1KHz.

To do so, keep any processing you have applied directly to your stems ON (example: EQ, compression, FX, etc.) but keep your master/summing bus clear of any processing.

Bounce so that the maximum peak of your song is at -3dB and be sure that there is no clipping anywhere.

Sending the files

Done bouncing...?

Drop all your files in a blank project to listen to them and make sure everything sounds how you want it to.

Name all your files by content (kick, bass, etc.), pack them all in a file, and send it over to mastering.audion@gmail.com using Google Drive or a service of your choice.

If possible, please add a reference track made by yourself or another artist. It will help us to understand better what you’re looking for and what you like. A text file with few notes would do the job as well.

When sending the files, also send an e-mail or use our contact form to introduce yourself and let us know what service you want to hire for your tracks.

We’d love to know you better!
